Jamie Read has been coaching singers and professional speakers since 2005 in the Thatcham and West Berkshire areas, and is sought-after voice expert working with singers, speakers and vocal health clients. He has coached voices from rock to choral, public speakers to clergy, and everything in between! He has a particular expertise in the Musical Theatre repertoire and techniques.
Jamie is on the leadership team for Berkshire Music Trust, and serves as a voice tutor at the world-famous Italia Conti academy. He was Head of Singing and Artistic Director at READ College for 14 years and is the Leader of Thatcham Musical Theatre Choir.
As a performer, Jamie worked in the West End and across the UK, Europe and the US over an extensive career. He has appeared on film and television, as well as singing with opera companies and writing two musicals.
Jamie completed his Post Graduate Diploma (also with Distinction) through University of Wales Trinity St David’s in conjunction with Voice Study Centre, researching the latest developments in contemporary voice training. He served as a education board member of the British Voice Association and is a member of the Independent Society of Musicians. Jamie's blog on voice training is a great resource to help singers in between lessons.
Jamie was a vanguard Assessor for the Vocal Health First Aid programme, and has many years experience working in voice rehabilitation for professional singers and speakers who have suffered vocal injuries.
